Getting healthy sleep cycles can be challenging on hot Summer nights. If you have trouble sleeping in the heat, follow our tips and turn your bedroom into a more pleasant space.
Summer has arrived, and at this season, there are those who love it and those who despair at bedtime. Insomnia and night sweats are some of the uncomfortable situations some people face in the Summer. Believe it or not, the solution may lie in your bedding and bedroom decor. After all, your sleep performance is related to the atmosphere in your bedroom.
If you want a Summer-ready environment for your bedroom, follow our tips. From the color of your decor to the pajamas you wear, there’s a lot to discover.
1. Sleep in breathable bedding
Bed linen made from sustainable, natural fibers is the best choice. These fibers are usually more breathable, providing a cozy and pleasant night’s sleep. Synthetic fibers can overheat you at night, making you more likely to wake up sweaty and uncomfortable.
At THON, we are committed to you and the environment. We suggest our Egyptian Cotton™ Percale or TENCEL™ Lyocell bedding for Summer. TENCEL and Egyptian Cotton™ sheets are noted for being incredibly breathable and absorbent. Find out more about these fibers and beyond in our article "The Best Cooling Sheets For Summer Nights".
2. New season, new decor
When decorating, opt for the minimalist style and the philosophy of slow living. Add simplicity and natural elements through unique handmade pieces from sustainable raw materials. Rugs can be aesthetic, but they make your bedroom too hot. They are also an excellent environment for mites and dust.
Place elements in light colors and shades such as aqua green, beige, or white throughout your bedroom. These colors are reminiscent of Nature and its lightness, creating a more relaxing atmosphere and a more serene lifestyle. Including indoor plants in your decor can be a fantastic trick. They are perfect for a more exotic and fresh look.
3. Fresh Summer pajamas
There is no point in buying breathable bedding if the first layer over your skin blocks airflow. Like your pillowcases and bed sheets, your pajamas should also be woven from breathable and absorbent fibers. This is essential to avoid night sweats.
For your pajamas, opt for lighter fibers that help regulate body temperature. Cotton, Linen, and TENCEL™ Lyocell are great options.
4. Freshen up your bedroom
At bedtime, your bedroom should be between 18 °C and 25 °C. But in Summer, keeping the temperature at 25 ºC can be difficult. Close your blinds and curtains during the hottest times to get around this. When it gets dusk, let your bedroom air out by opening your blinds slightly.
Finally, avoid light sources that heat up the space. To do this, switch your light bulbs to ones with lower wattage.
5. Take a cold shower before bed
If you still have trouble falling asleep on Summer nights, you can take a cool shower before bed. Using shower gels and creams with mint helps prolong the fresh sensation after bathing.
At the end of your shower, wrap yourself in our Egyptian Cotton™ or TENCEL™ Lyocell and Cotton. bath towels. THON towels are designed to give you shooting and refreshing sensations, worthy of a SPA.
At THON, we know that Summer nights can challenge many people. The secret to sleeping better is choosing lighter, eco-friendly, and natural sheets, pillowcases, as well as duvet covers. Tailor your bedroom according to your needs and well-being. After our tips, do you already know how to face the hottest nights?
